The Community Lifestyle and Infrastructure Plan (CLIP) once finalised will be the fundamental guiding document to shape the future of Tom Price and will also identify opportunities for the future of Paraburdoo.
Shire of Ashburton President Kerry White acknowledged that she was pleased to see this project move forward as an integral piece for the future of Tom Price and Paraburdoo.
“The concept of CLIP has been discussed with Council and community over the past 12 months and has been presented and supported by Pilbara Development Commission and Rio Tinto”, said Councillor White.
“CLIP will consider future town planning and economic development, expansion of retail, commercial and tourism opportunities, as well as future recreation, arts and cultural activities and form the basis of the Shire’s future partnership agreements with Rio Tinto.
“It will address key needs and issues such as health facilities, recreation facilities and infrastructure, as well as the local economy and employment opportunities. It will also include an agreed upon framework that will assist in achieving long term liveability for the inland towns within the Shire of Ashburton.
“The Shire recently appointed Hames Sharley to manage the project and as part of this, independent community engagement consultants, Creating Communities Australia, will shortly commence a series of engagement events across Tom Price and Paraburdoo.
“The first phase of engagement will take place in April 2022, to capture ideas and aspirations for the future from community members with interviews; focus groups and pop ups scheduled in Paraburdoo and Tom Price from the 4-7 April”.
