Tradespeople urged to make electrical safety a priority

Horizon Power is encouraging everyone to consider electrical safety now that works are progressing with new underground project where sections in the Onslow LIA are energised and now live.

Horizon Power Manager Pilbara Network James Carney said “Tradespeople and the general public should be mindful of potential electrical hazards on worksites and to consider all-risks’.

Damage to live underground cable can result in serious injury as well as service interruptions. Safety is our primary concern and we urge tradespeople to consider the location of equipment to underground and overhead powerlines and identify hazards when planning work.

If you are excavating, register your works with the free Dial Before You Dig service at www.1100.com.au to receive information about the co-mingled underground networks before beginning work.

Before starting any work on site, ensure that you contact Dial Before You Dig, check where infrastructure is on a site and stay clear of electrical infrastructure. In the case of an emergency, dial 000 straight away.

If you would like to report a fault or damage to an electrical asset please call Horizon Power’s dedicated faults line on 13 13 51.

If you have any questions regarding the Pilbara Underground Power Project or undergrounding works on your property, please call the Horizon Power PUPP Access Controller Justine Franklin on 9159 7253.
