The Shire of Ashburton will be welcoming Carol Redford from Astrotourism WA and Dr Kate Russo from ‘being in the shadow’ as the countdown to the 2023 Solar Eclipse begins.
Residents are invited to attend this free event that will take place at the Golfie on Tuesday April 12 and consist of two sessions:
Presentations - 6pm
Carol Redford from Astrotourism WA will give a presentation on Dark Sky Tourism and why the Shire of Ashburton is so well suited for stargazing.
Dr Kate Russo from “being in the shadow” will present on the 2023 Solar Eclipse, discussing how the Solar Eclipse will impact the Ashburton region.
Stargazing – 6:45pm
Residents will have the opportunity to find constellations with an amazing green laser pointer tour and take a closer look at the Moon through a telescope. Explore the beautiful night sky and discover more about the special Total Solar Eclipse happening in 2023.
Please bring your own chairs, rugs, picnics, torches, and insect repellent if needed for stargazing.
