The Shire of Ashburton will be celebrating NAIDOC Week in Tom Price on Friday November 5, after celebrations earlier in the year were postponed.

The Heal Country Sundowner, which takes its name from the official NAIDOC theme for 2021, will provide residents with an opportunity to formally recognise the traditional custodians of the land.

The event will take place on Friday, November 5 at Village Green from 5pm and include a Welcome to Country ceremony, live music from Phil Bartlett Band, free cultural food, and giveaways.

There will also be a variety of kids entertainment consisting of yard games, face paint, red dirt reptiles, games from the Tom Price Youth Support Association and arts and crafts.

Residents are encouraged to bring their own picnic to the event and enjoy the Heal Country Sundowner. Please note the event will be strictly alcohol free.

The Shire of Ashburton Heal Country Sundowner event is presented in collaboration with IBN Corporation, Gumala Aboriginal Corporation, Ashburton Aboriginal Corporation, Tom Price Youth Support Association, Nintirri Centre, Tom Price Arts Hub, Tom Price Senior High School and Rio Tinto.
