Tom Price Bushfire update #3

Published on Wednesday, 10 November 2021 at 11:58:01 AM

Tom Price community members are advised that following yesterday’s asset protection and fire management activity around the Tom Price town site, the main fire area has not increased, and a substantial asset protection zone is now in place.

DFES have advised that while small pockets of fire continue, there has been no increase to the main fire areas and these smaller fires are not of a major concern.

The threat of tomorrow’s wind change has also significantly reduced with the substantial protection zone in place around the town.

Tom Price residents are advised that they may experience smoke and dust tomorrow and those community members with respiratory concerns are advised to remain indoors, keep windows and doors closed.

DFES along with the stakeholder group, including Shire of Ashburton, WAPOL, DBCA, Main Roads WA, and Rio Tinto, would like to acknowledge the community of Tom Price and thank them for their understanding and support over the past 24 hours, which has assisted the firefighting efforts and asset protection measures to occur quickly and without interruption.

Paraburdoo - Tom Price Road is now open. Karijini Drive is still closed between Paraburdoo Tom Price Road and Marandoo Mine Camp / Punurunha Village.
