Development of the much-anticipated Tom Price Bike Park will get underway with works to begin on site next week.

The $1.6 million project is expected to be completed by the start of October.

Shire of Ashburton President Kerry White said Council is excited to see the project commence and acknowledge that this project has been much anticipated by the Tom Price community.

“The Bike Park will be a fantastic amenity for families and residents in Tom Price to enjoy, and children of all ages and abilities will be able to use the facility, that is both safe and fun”, said Councillor White.

“The new Bike Park will include a new pump track plus a learn to ride track for younger and inexperienced riders.

“It will also integrate with the existing playground at Lions Park creating a communal space for all ages and abilities to enjoy whilst improving overall health and wellbeing.

“Also included is an upgrade to the dog park facilities that will include expanding the existing dog park, a refurbished car park area, services including reticulation, shelters, and other associated siteworks.

“Tom Price Dog Park has been unavailable to the community since the flood event in February this year and we understand the importance of this facility to the community also.

"There may be some disruption to neighbouring residents as works get underway, but we will endeavour that these are kept to a minimum and that residents are informed in advance.

"I am also pleased that the works have been awarded to local contractor, Byblos Construction, who we have previously worked with to deliver many projects to our Tom Price community".
