The Shire of Ashburton has welcomed the State Government’s announcement today that they will be issuing a tender next month to deliver both Paraburdoo and Tom Price hospitals.
Premier Roger Cook travelled to Tom Price and met with the Shire of Ashburton today to announce the news and brief the Shire in-person on the State Government’s updated plans.
The State Government has committed to release a tender for construction in August 2024, with awarding expected in November 2024 and fast-tracked works for Tom Price Hospital to commence in December 2024.
Today’s announcement also saw an additional $20 million commitment from Rio Tinto, through the Resources Community Investment Initiative (RCII), to enable the new Paraburdoo Hospital to be constructed in conjunction with the new Tom Price Hospital.
President Smith embraces the announcement and the positive step forward in addressing regional health issues.
“We want to thank everyone in the Ashburton community, right across the State, for their support in getting these important projects back on the agenda.
“It was fantastic to have the Premier in Tom Price today to acknowledge the community’s grassroots campaign to get these hospitals underway and prioritise the health of our community.
“Regional Western Australians deserve the same services and attention as anyone else in our great State.
“We would also like to acknowledge the contribution of Rio Tinto to make these combined projects possible.
“We look forward to working collaboratively and constructively with the State Government to keep these important projects on track for our community,” stated President Smith.
