Following a recent review, the Shire of Ashburton is set to add an additional eight weeks to the swimming pool season at each of its aquatic facilities.
Earlier this year the Shire invited the community to give feedback on what they would like to see from the 2020/21 budget and a large amount of feedback received from community members related to our swimming pool operations.
An internal panel also completed an assessment on each of the facilities which took into account the level of services provided and the user groups at each facility.
A series of options were presented to Council that looked at improvements to access, lighting, heating and additional amenities within the centres.
From 1 September 2020, we will trial a soft opening to pool season with facilities open 3 days per week until opening 7 days a week from Friday 25 September until Tuesday 30 April 2021.
The season will extend for a further four weeks, opening three days a week during May 2021.
