The Pilbara Regional Waste Management Facility has reached another milestone with the Shire of Ashburton appointing a preferred operator for the facility.

Following an in-depth tender process, Pilbara Environmental Services Pty Ltd have been announced as the preferred tenderer for the operation and management of the Pilbara Regional Waste Management Facility.

Shire of Ashburton President Kerry White said that she was pleased to announce Pilbara Environmental Services Pty Ltd, a joint venture between Cleanaway and Kingkira, as operator of the new waste management facility.

“It is anticipated that operations will commence towards the end of July as contract details with Pilbara Environmental Services Pty Ltd are finalised”, acknowledged Councillor White.

“The waste management facility will accept Class III and IV waste from mining, industrial and oil and gas operations across the wider Pilbara and north west region.

“Designed and constructed to best practice standards, the facility is the only one if its kind outside of Perth.

“I am also pleased the Shire will be working with both the Kingkira Group, an established and respected traditional owner business, and with Australia’s largest national waste management, environmental and industrial services provider Cleanaway Ltd, as part of this joint venture to operate and provide waste management services for the facility”.

The completion of the Class IV facility was formally recognised in March and officially opened by Hon. Nola Marino, Assistant Minister for Regional Development; Deanne Renting, Production Manager Wheatstone; and Shire of Ashburton President Kerry White.
