Revised access to Onslow Airport

Published on Saturday, 20 June 2015 at 12:00:00 AM

As part of the final civil works at the airport we are constructing a new access road; a permanent car park; a passenger drop off area for both buses and private vehicles; pathways to the terminal building landside and airside; and various other works.

To allow these works to be carried out safely and promptly we need to install a new junction and temporary access road to the airport off Onslow Road. The new junction will be positioned approximately 200m further along Onslow Road, driving away from Onslow town. The temporary road will take vehicles to the back (western) side of the current temporary car park which will remain in use until the new permanent car park is completed.

The temporary junction and access road will be clearly marked and warning signs put in place to warn drivers of the new arrangements. We ask all Onslow residents, permanent and temporary, to take extra care when driving past this new junction or when using the junction to drive along the temporary access road to the airport.

The speed limit along this section of Onslow Road will remain at 80 km/h, although we will review this and lower the speed limit if we feel it is necessary to ensure road safety. Please follow the speed limit and the warning signs being installed.

This temporary junction and access road will be put in place on Saturday 20th June 2015.

These final civil works are expected to continue until September. Airport access will revert to the ‘new’ road and car park when they are ready for use. Those changes will be clearly signposted and publicised at that time.

Thank you for your continued assistance and vigilance in this final part of the airport project.
