Residents are advised to be vigilant when outdoors due to recent reports of wild dogs in the area.

While Ranger Services are working to mitigate issues, here are some precautions to ensure our safety for both humans and dingos:

🚫 Never feed dingos – Directly or indirectly.
👨‍👧 Supervise children closely – Especially near dingo-prone areas.
🚶‍♀️ Avoid solitary walks – Buddy up for bush walks or beach strolls.
🔒 Secure food containers – Keep food inaccessible when not in use.
🗑️ Dispose of rubbish properly – Use designated waste stations.
🐟 Bury fish remains – Dig a hole below the high tide mark.
🚧 Read safety signs – Follow ranger instructions and updates.

🛑 Encountering a Dingo? Remember:

Stand tall and face the dingo.
Back away slowly if safe.
Wait for the dingo to leave.
Call for help if needed.
Never pat or run away.

Please direct any questions, concerns or requests regarding wild dogs to the Shire Ranger Services via our See It, Report It! online form;

By managing interactions responsibly, we can ensure the safety of both visitors and dingos in the Shire of Ashburton.
