The Shire has been made aware of a recent occurrence of dead puffer fish washing up along Onslow beach, with more than 100 found in recent days.
Puffer fish contain a potent toxin that is highly dangerous to dogs and may cause severe illness or death if ingested, even in small quantities.
Residents are advised to:
– Keep dogs leashed and under close supervision when visiting the beach.
– Prevent dogs from sniffing, licking, or eating any dead fish or marine life.
– Report any further findings of dead puffer fish to the Shire for safe removal.
The Shire is monitoring the situation and will provide updates as required.
