An upper-level cloud band streaming over the Pilbara region is expected to bring moderate to heavy rainfall to areas between Onslow and Bidyadanga over the weekend. It is possible that the rainfall will continue through to Wednesday. During this period daily rainfall totals of 25mm to 50mm are likely with the possibility of higher falls exceeding 90mm in coastal areas. Daily totals for the same period of 15 to 35mm with isolated totals of 60mm are expected further inland as far as Karijini National Park.

Catchments where flooding may develop include:

  • Onslow Coastal Streams
  • Port Hedland Coast
  • DeGrey River

DFES advises people and communities to be aware that flooding is possible and be prepared to relocate equipment and livestock. Watch water levels. Travellers need to be aware that road conditions may be adversely affected and travel plans may need to be reconsidered. Do not drive into water of unknown depth and velocity.
