Prepare for Bushfire Season

With Bush Fire Season upon us, residents and visitors to the Shire of Ashburton are reminded that the following conditions apply. 

RESTRICTED BURNING ALL YEAR

  • Fires are prohibited all year without a permit other than for the purpose of camping and cooking. 
  • On days of very high fire danger or above all fires are prohibited.
  • Please listen to ABC local Radio for Fire Weather information or visit bom.gov.au

Firebreaks

Pursuant to the powers contained in Section 33 of the Bush Fires Act 1954, owners and occupiers of land are hereby required on or before the 1st day of October 2015, (or within fourteen days of your becoming owner or occupier of land should this be after the 1st day of October 2015), to clear firebreaks and reduce the fuel load from the land owned or occupied by you.

FCO Appointments

The Shire of Ashburton hereby revokes all previous FCO appointments delegated to Paul Madden, Paul Dickson and Ivan Diaz and appoints the following as Fire Control Officers for the Shire of Ashburton:

For the whole of the Shire of Ashburton -

  •  Morgwn Jones as CBFCO
  • Chris O’Connell as DCBFCO
  • Darryl Hannah as FCO
  • Geoff Harrison as FCO
  • Leon Peacock as FCO
  • David Mutton as FCO
  • Craig Mackrell as FCO

For the Paraburdoo Townsite (Permits only) -

  • Ivan Diaz as FCO

For the Western Parts of the Shire of Ashburton (Pannawonica) -

  • Matt Campbell as FCO
  • Phil Dee as FCO

For areas where the Shires of Roebourne, Port Hedland and Exmouth share a boundary with the Shire of Ashburton -

  • Michael Booth (CBFCO Shire of Roebourne) as FCO
  • Peter Wilden (CBFCO Town of Port Hedland) as FCO
  • David George (CBFCO Shire of Exmouth) as FCO
