Onslow residents are thanked for their contributions to the MPC Summer of Sport Survey that was launched by the Shire in October.
The survey aimed to understand how the Onslow Multipurpose facility could be best utilised and made more accessible to the local community.
Results reflected the following:
If the Shire of Ashburton were to open up the MPC indoor courts for community use, which sport would you most like to participate in?
Basketball – 41.2%
Badminton – 23.5%
Netball 17.6%
Any – 11.8%
Cricket – 5.9%
What day would you most likely attend to play sport?
Monday – 26.7%
Tuesday – 26.7%
Wednesday – 13.3%
Thursday - 13.3.%
Saturday – 13.3%
Sunday – 6.7%
What time would you prefer to play sport at the MPC?
Evening – 76.9%
Afternoon – 15.4%
Other – 7.7%
If the Shire of Ashburton were to arrange an umpiring or refereeing course in a particular sport, would you be interested in participating?
Yes – 56%
Maybe – 32%
No – 12%
The results of the survey will now provide a basis for the Onslow Community Services team to introduce social sport initiatives in 2023.
