A $450,000 footpath renewal and repair program commences in Onslow this week.
Community members in Onslow are advised that there will be traffic management in place at time but access to properties and amenities will be maintained.
Shire President Kerry White said she was pleased to see the works get underway and acknowledged that the result would mean a lot to the community.
“The footpath works will finish off some outstanding issues and provide better accessibility and enhance the livability of Onslow for residents” said Councillor White.
“Key locations in town include the footpath at the Ocean View Caravan Park and along Backbeach Road as well as critical areas on First Avenue and Second Avenue to link with the hospital entrance.
“Residential streets that will be improved include Third Avenue, Cameron Avenue to McRae Place, Maunsell Corner.
“Traffic calming measures will also be implemented with the construction of a low-level raised footpath crossing with associated advisory and advanced warning signs on Cameron Avenue, which will allow for safer access to pedestrians utilising the Skate Park and the Onslow Sports Oval.
“It is anticipated that works will be completed by Sunday 7 June and will be completed by Shire contractors Dowsing Group.
The footpath construction and renewal program in Onslow will add 1.6km of footpath to the Shire’s network and forms part of a $1.1M footpath program to be delivered by the Shire of Ashburton in the coming months.
