⚠️ HEALTH ALERT: New cases of measles have been detected in the Pilbara community this week ⚠️
Infectious cases were in multiple locations including shops, hospitals and churches.
Measles is highly infectious. Anyone who is not fully vaccinated is at risk of developing the disease if they are exposed.
Early symptoms of measles include:
✅ Fever
✅ Runny nose and cough
✅ Sore red eyes
✅ These are followed by a red non-itchy rash that usually starts on the face before spreading down to the body.
Anyone with symptoms of measles should be tested immediately. This is available at WA Country Health Service hospitals in Hedland, Karratha, Roebourne, Onslow and Newman – please call ahead and wear a mask. Appointments are also available at:

– Every second Wednesday, 9:00am – 3:30pm
