Festive spirit high as community members prepare to celebrate Christmas

With a variety of events to delight and enthral in anticipation of Christmas, the coming weeks are set to be filled with holiday cheer for our community members.

Residents can experience the joy of this special time of year by adorning their house with twinkling lights to compete in either the inland or coastal Christmas Lights Competition, with generous cash prizes to be won.

The famous Onslow Float Parade invites locals to create a quirky Dr Suess-inspired float, and Santa will be available to listen to the kids’ present wish lists at the Onslow Community Christmas Party.

An enchanting evening of song is to be enjoyed at the Pannawonica Christmas Carols, and sparkling conversation and a delicious spread is to be shared at the annual Onslow Keepers Christmas Party.

Shire President Kerry White said she relished the opportunity for the Shire of Ashburton to bring the community together.

“2020 has not been without its challenges. It is with pleasure the Shire of Ashburton is able to facilitate events that celebrate the things that truly matter – family, friendship and harmony.

With a myriad of activities in the build-up to Christmas, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

I encourage all of our community members to extend warmth and hospitality to all, particularly those who are spending this time of year away from their loved ones.”
