The Shire of Ashburton is getting into the Christmas spirit as communities come together to sing carols, decorate their homes with Christmas lights and watch on as festive floats are paraded through the streets.
A range of fun activities held throughout December have kept the towns of Onslow, Paraburdoo, Pannawonica and Tom Price well adorned in festive spirit and community goodwill.
In Onslow, festivities began with a community parade which saw a long line of creative and inventive Christmas floats make their way down the main street. The parade finished at the Town Oval where an evening of live entertainment, feasts and fun was enjoyed by all.
Tom Price, Pannawonica and Paraburdoo decorated their houses in a bid to win the highly coveted Christmas Lights competition. A community bus tour proved popular with both children and adults as residents put on a spectacular show with themed lights and interactive displays.
Shire President Kerry White said it is always wonderful to see children and families enjoying the many Christmas activities within the community.
“Singing Christmas carols, decorating your house, car or boat and taking part in the end of year concerts and events brings a sense of belonging and joy to the community,” said Cr White.
“All of these activities are made possible through the Shire partnerships with the Chevron-operated Wheatstone Project and Rio Tinto and we thank them for their ongoing support.”
Congratulations to all of our residents who made the time and investment to decorate your house, yourselves or your festive float, bringing fun and Christmas cheer to our communities.
