The Shire of Ashburton, is excited to announce that the tender for construction of the new multipurpose facility, as well as the refurbishment of the existing sports hall into a new location for Karingal Neighbourhood Centre, has been awarded to Pindan Contracting.

Pindan’s submission allows for the swimming pool to be open for a substantial portion of the 2017 pool season through the provision of temporary facilities.

Short-term closures can be expected throughout the season to allow for various components of the build, however these will be communicated beforehand wherever possible.

The safety and wellbeing of our pool users is paramount and extensive monitoring will occur regularly to ensure the quality of the water is not effected.

The proposed program of works for the construction for the new multipurpose facility and refurbishment of the existing sports hall are as follows:

  • Contract Award              2 October 2017
  • Possession of Site         30 October 2017
  • Practical Completion:
    • New Pool Facilities  1 October 2018
    • Overall Project          30 October 2018

Council have unanimously voted to remove the fees and charges associated to the Quentin Broad Swimming Pool for the 2017/18 pool season, due to the uncertainty surrounding the short term closures to be expected as part of the Paraburdoo Community Hub Construction works.

Therefore entry to the Quentin Broad Swimming Pool will be FREE to all users during the current season.
