Community reminded social distancing still in place this ANZAC weekend

Although it is a long weekend, all COVID-19 restrictions remain in place and the advice to reduce the spread of the pandemic are unchanged.

Social distancing with limits on gatherings applies and you should only leave you home for essential reasons.

These include shopping for groceries, work or study, medical reasons and for exercise alone or with one other person.

The number of new cases this week in Western Australia and in the country is encouraging and means that the measures in place are working and we need to continue to follow those guidelines.

Tomorrow is ANZAC Day and all members of the community are asked to commemorate by participating in the Driveways at Dawn tribute and tune into ABC Pilbara to hear The Ode, The Last Post and join in a one minute silence.

Residents are also being asked to share a short 15-second video of their street at 5.55am and send to [email protected] so that we can compile an overall snapshot of Ashburton's tribute.

THE ODE

They shall grow not old, as we that are left to grow old;

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them

Lest we forget
