Local community organisations involved in programs, activities and events in the Pilbara are encouraged to apply for funding up to $3,000 through the Fortescue Community Support program.

Now in its 7th year the Fortescue Community Support program has helped not-for-profit organisations and community groups fund beneficial programs, activities and events. The program is open to groups within the council boundaries of the Town of Port Hedland and Shire of East Pilbara and the towns of Tom Price and Roebourne.

Fortescue Group Manager Government and Community Alexa Morcombe said the Community Support program focuses on initiatives that embrace and support education and training, Aboriginal engagement, health and wellness, community safety, community involvement, economic development and environmental responsibility.

"Fortescue values the communities in which we operate and the Community Support program is just one of the ways we invest in these communities,” Ms Morcombe said. “In our last funding round we provided assistance to over 30 Pilbara-based, community initiatives and we’re very excited to work with another group of grass-roots organisations focused on making a positive impact in the community.”

Applications for Fortescue Community Support are open from 1 October, 2015 until 31 October, 2015. For more information or to apply visit www.fmgl.com.au/community or email [email protected]
