Community feedback encouraged for new Visit Ashburton App

Due to the growing popularity of the Shire of Ashburton as a tourist destination, the Shire has been working with the team from Specialist Apps to create a mobile app that showcases the Ashburton region.

Stage one of the app focusses primarily on providing an interactive and informative experience to visitors of Old Onslow.

Visitors can take a virtual tour and utilise augmented reality to see a number of old buildings in the town, as well as an interactive storm simulator.

As part of Stage One developments, visitors to the region and members of the community are encouraged to download the app and provide their feedback.

Shire President Kerry White said the app provides an opportunity to provide immersive tourism initiatives to the region.

“The development of the Visit Ashburton app provides a basis for tourists and community members to see first-hand the history and heritage of the Ashburton region.”

“Earlier this month, Council had the opportunity to visit Old Onslow and test the app and are excited to see it’s continual growth through this development phase,” she said.

“To ensure Stage One can provide a truly immersive experience of Old Onslow once completed I encourage residents to download the Visit Ashburton app themselves, test it out and provide any constructive feedback they can.”

The app is currently still in the development phase with visitors to the Shire and community members invited to download the app, try it out, and provide feedback on the current content and functionality.

To allow for development to continue in a timely manner feedback can be submitted up until Sunday, September 4 using this form: https://forms.office.com/r/ED2ZnRVRC0
