Coastal Hazard Plan - Community Workshop

Published on Tuesday, 13 October 2015 at 12:00:00 AM

In August 2015, the Shire of Ashburton engaged Cardno to prepare a Coastal Hazard Risk Management and Adaptation Plan (CHRMAP) for the Onslow Coast.  A CHRMAP provides a framework for including coastal hazard considerations in decision-making processes and  includes the identification of coastal assets, e.g. foreshore reserves, caravan parks and jetties that may be at risk of being impacted by coastal hazards and of potential risks to these coastal assets.

Further information about the project, proposed objectives and stages involved in the development of the CHRMAP is provided in this project information sheet.

Community and stakeholder engagement is a key component in the development of a CHRMAP and the Shire and its consultants would now like to invite you to participate in a facilitated stakeholder and community workshop to discuss how you currently use and value the Onslow coast and coastal assets (built, natural, and social) and how changes to the coast could impact on these uses and values.

Workshop details are as follows:

Time: 4-6pm

When: Monday 26th October

Where: Onslow Sports Club

RSVP: [email protected] by Thursday 22 October.

Light snacks will be provided.
