Shire of Ashburton community members and visitors to our region are invited to attend a number of ANZAC Day commemorative services on Sunday 25 April.

Shire of Ashburton President Kerry White said she was encouraging the Ashburton community to attend the events with a service planned for each town in the Shire as a mark of respect to those who have served to defend Australia.

“On this day, Australians everywhere gather to remember and commemorate the ANZAC spirit”, said Councillor White.

“ANZAC Day is a time for the community to come together to honour those who have served, and those who continue to serve, in Australia’s armed forces through wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations”.

In Onslow the memorial service commences at 5.30am with an ANZAC March to the War Memorial for a Dawn Service, followed by a Gunfire Breakfast at Onslow Beach Resort and later that day Onslow Sports Club will host live music and a bbq.

The Tom Price community are invited to attend a Dawn Service at RSL Memorial Park at 5.30am, followed by a Gunfire Breakfast at the community hall. Join the Fire Brigade in an ANZAC Day March at 8am and from midday the Pilbara Regiment are hosting a community bbq and two-up.

Paraburdoo will host a ANZAC Dawn Service at 5.45am followed by a Gunfire Breakfast at Paraburdoo Bowling Club. The bowling club will also host an community afternoon, doors open at 2pm.

In Pannawonica a Dawn Service will commence at 5.30am at Tony Lions Park with a Gunfire Breakfast at Pannawonica Sporting Club following the service.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.
