2025 Outback Air Race Set to Land in Onslow
The skies over Onslow will come alive on Wednesday, 3 September 2025, as the Outback Air Race touches down on the coast as part of its 3,800-kilometre journey across Northern Australia.
Onslow is one of ten official stopovers on the biennial aviation event, which takes participants from Yulara in the Northern Territory through to Carnarvon, Western Australia. More than 100 aviators and crew are expected to take part in the 2025 race, which has been raising funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) since 1996. To date, the race has generated close to $4 million to help the RFDS deliver lifesaving services to regional and remote communities.
Shire of Ashburton President Audra Smith said Onslow was proud to be included on the 2025 route.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming the Outback Air Race 2025 to Onslow and celebrating the incredibly important work of the Royal Flying Doctor Service in supporting regional Australians.
“This visit also provides a chance to acknowledge the invaluable contribution of our local emergency service volunteers, whose dedication ensures our community remains safe and supported," said President Smith.
The Outback Air Race is a celebration of flying for a cause, combining the passion of private aviators with a commitment to supporting one of Australia’s most essential services. From Onslow, aircraft will continue to Exmouth before heading to the race’s final destination in Carnarvon.
