🔔 Wild Dog Activity in the Tom Price Area 🔔
The Shire of Ashburton is aware of recent reports and sightings of wild dog activity in and around the Tom Price townsite.
Please be advised a management program has been implemented, with monitoring and response activities currently underway. These actions are focused on reducing risk to the community and protecting pets.
The Shire is working closely with relevant stakeholders and will continue to take appropriate action as required.
As a precaution, residents are encouraged to take extra care when walking or exercising dogs, particularly during early morning and evening hours when wild dog activity is more likely. Where possible, residents should use designated dog parks and ensure dogs are kept under effective control at all times.
Any sightings of wild dogs or aggressive animal behaviour should be reported to the Shire as soon as practicable:

🛑 Encountering a wild dog? Remember:
- Stand tall and face the wild dog
- Back away slowly if it is safe to do so
- Give the wild dog space and wait for it to move away
- Call out for help if you feel threatened
- Never run, feed or try to pat a wild dog
