🔔Wild Dog Activity in the Paraburdoo Area 🔔
The Shire of Ashburton has received several reports of a pack of wild dogs entering the Paraburdoo townsite early this morning.
March marks the start of the wild dog breeding season in the Pilbara, which typically runs from now through to June.
This has traditionally coincided with more concentrated numbers of wild dogs being seen in and around the Paraburdoo townsite.
Residents are advised to remain vigilant and exercise caution, particularly during the early morning and evening hours, when wildlife activity is more common.
While wild dogs and occasional encounters are part of living in the Pilbara, residents are reminded not to become complacent and to take sensible precautions.
Residents are asked to:
• Keep your dogs on a leash at all times when walking
• Avoid walking your dogs early in the morning or late in the evening where possible
• Ensure all pets are securely contained within your property
• Keep children under supervision when outdoors
• Do not approach or attempt to interact with the animals
• Report any sightings to the Shire of Ashburton here: https://www.ashburton.wa.gov.au/forms/customer-action-request/2
• Ensure food sources are not left accessible, including pet food or household waste
The Shire is aware of the wild dog activity and will continue to monitor the situation and take appropriate control measures where necessary.
Thank you for your participation in ensuring the safety of others in the Shire of Ashburton.
