The WA Government announced the official commencement of construction on the new Paraburdoo Hospital.
Early works have commenced on site, with the demolition of the northern hospital block, construction of the new hospital building ground pad, and the establishment of temporary parking facilities.
The attached renders showcase the new hospital which will include a new emergency department, a two-bed short stay unit, and integrated primary and community care services, including a private GP clinic. The facility will also deliver a flexible model of care, enabling patients to access a range of short-stay inpatient services, assessment, treatment, and ongoing care closer to home, reducing the need to travel for care.
Shire President Audra Smith is pleased to see the next stage of the project commence and the lasting benefits it will bring to the Paraburdoo community.
"Paraburdoo residents and community members have waited for this hospital for years, and now they are receiving their wish. Following the community advocacy campaign to build the Tom Price Hospital, I am glad to see Paraburdoo be included and improve the much-needed healthcare improvement to our region.
"Thank you to Rio Tinto for its $20 million contribution and to the WA Government for its commitment to delivering this vital infrastructure. We will continue to work closely State Government and WACHS throughout the build and supporting this important project for our community. The hospital represents a significant investment in the future of Paraburdoo and will ensure residents have access to modern, high-quality healthcare closer to home for generations to come," she said.
Scheduled for completion in 2028, the new facility will provide modern healthcare services closer to home and meet the growing needs of Paraburdoo.
