Shire of Ashburton Announces Inaugural Ashburton Excellence Awards 🌟

The Shire of Ashburton is proud to announce the launch of the inaugural Ashburton Excellence Awards, a new awards program designed to recognise and celebrate the outstanding individuals, clubs, groups, sports persons, volunteers, and organisations who make a positive difference across our four towns.

Replacing previous standalone recognition programs, the Ashburton Excellence Awards will bring together community and sporting achievement under one banner, providing a platform to acknowledge the people whose dedication, leadership and contributions help strengthen communities across Tom Price, Paraburdoo, Pannawonica and Onslow.

The awards will recognise excellence across a range of categories, including community volunteering, sporting achievement, community groups, coaching and inclusive leadership, hosted by guest speaker, Ben Cousins, presenting these awards across Ashburton.

Shire President Audra Smith said the new awards program is an opportunity to recognise the people who go above and beyond to make the Shire of Ashburton a great place to live, work and volunteer.

“Across our communities there are countless individuals, sporting clubs, volunteers and community groups who quietly make an extraordinary difference every day.

“The Ashburton Excellence Awards will provide an opportunity to celebrate those contributions and recognise the people whose dedication, passion and leadership help strengthen our communities and inspire others,” she said.

Nominations will open on Monday, 31 August 2026 and community members are encouraged to nominate individuals, groups and organisations who have demonstrated achievement or made a significant contribution within the previous 12 months.

Award recipients will be celebrated at a series of community events held across the Shire during November 2026, bringing together residents, community groups, sporting organisations and local leaders to recognise and celebrate excellence.

Further information, including category criteria and nomination forms, will be available when nominations open through the Shire’s website and social media.
