Shire of Ashburton Endorses Marketing and Communications Strategy 2024–2027
The Shire of Ashburton has formally endorsed its Marketing and Communications Strategy 2024–2027, marking a new direction in community engagement, promotion of local initiatives and delivery of timely information to residents, businesses, stakeholders and visitors.
Developed through extensive consultation with local communities, this strategy builds upon the progress achieved under the 2020 Marketing and Communications Strategy.
Shire President Audra Smith commends the importance of the strategy for community updates while considering evolving technologies.
"This is a critical framework for how we communicate and connect with our diverse and widespread population. Effective communication helps ensure that everyone feels informed, safe and part of our community,” said President Smith.
The new strategy sets out eight priority goals for the next three years, including:
- Cross-platform innovation
- Strategic delivery of key information
- Enhancing accessibility and inclusion
- Promoting the local cultural heart
- Regular community surveys and data collection
As part of the strategy’s development, the Shire’s Media and Communications department conducted a comprehensive survey in May 2024 to capture residents’ preferences for communication. The findings revealed that 60% of respondents were satisfied with the current flow of information, while 40% suggested new tactics to be adopted. The survey also highlighted that 75% of residents wish to be more informed and engaged in decisions affecting the entire Shire, not just their town of residence.
The 2024 – 2027 Marketing and Communications Strategy will guide the Shire's efforts to strengthen relationships with its residents, promote social inclusion and ensure that Ashburton remains connected and well-informed.
