Yesterday at May’s Ordinary Meeting of Council, the Shire of Ashburton presented Councillor Melanie Gallanagh with her service plaque, recognising her commitment and dedication to Ashburton Council over the past 10 years.

Cr Melanie Gallanagh was first elected as Councillor for the Pannawonica Ward in October 2015, and has been a passionate advocate for her community, working tirelessly to ensure the voices of Pannawonica and the wider district are heard.

Over her decade of service, Melanie has played a key role in supporting initiatives that have strengthened community life across the region. Her contributions include projects such as the Pannawonica Community Garden, Sports Club and Pump Track, along with ongoing advocacy for local clubs and community groups. Through her support of each ward and community, Melanie has made a lasting and meaningful impact.

On behalf of Council and the Ashburton community, we would like to thank Melanie for her dedication and leadership, and we wish her the very best for her future.

Following Melanie’s decision not to seek re-election in 2025, Tom Fox now serves as Councillor for the Pannawonica Ward on a four-year term.
