Working Together for Onslow Partnership

The Working Together for Onslow (WTO) partnership is a collaborative initiative between the Shire of Ashburton and Chevron Australia, through its Wheatstone Project, aimed at creating a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable community in Onslow.

About the Partnership

Established to ensure Onslow benefits from Chevron’s investment in the Wheatstone LNG Project, the WTO partnership focuses on delivering programs, events, and infrastructure that enhance liveability and foster community spirit. The current agreement runs from 2023–2025, with plans underway to renew the sponsorship for 2026–2028, continuing the shared commitment to community development and wellbeing.

Key Objectives

  • Community Engagement and Spirit: Deliver events and initiatives that strengthen social cohesion and create a sense of belonging.
  • Inclusive Programs: Support activities for all demographics, including youth, seniors, and culturally diverse groups.
  • Capacity Building: Assist local clubs and groups to become sustainable through training, volunteer development, and resource support.
  • Strategic Alignment: Ensure programs reflect community priorities identified through the Onslow Social Needs Assessment and My Pilbara Home strategies.

What We Deliver

  • Programs and Events:
    • Onslow Annual Gala – A flagship event celebrating community milestones and fostering local business engagement.
    • NAIDOC Week and Reconciliation Initiatives – Cultural programs promoting respect and inclusion.
    • School Holiday Programs – Activities like Birds of Prey shows, pool parties, and parkour sessions for youth engagement.
  • Community Programs:
    • Onslow Keepers (over 55s social group)
    • Fridays at the Pool and seasonal recreational activities
    • Arts and Culture Events and learning opportunities
  • Infrastructure Projects:
    • Onslow Aquatic Centre
    • Onslow Men’s Shed
    • Onslow Bike Park
    • Main Street Upgrade & Streetscape
    • Water infrastructure improvements and other civic enhancements
