Shire funding available for Community groups and Clubs

The Shire of Ashburton has grant funding options available for community groups and clubs.  Read below to determine if your club or group is eligible and download the application forms.

Small Assistance Donation

Maximum $500 per Club/Group per financial year.

Applications can be made at any time and is available to all not for profit groups, regardless of incorporation status. Groups may apply multiple times per year as long as the cumulative total is no more than $500. There is no formal application form for the Small Assistance Donation, simply send an email to our A/Executive Manager Community Development: [email protected]

Ensure that you include details of the club/group nominated bank account details as well as a description of what the funding will be used for, a contact telephone number and a physical address for correspondence.  Small Assistance Donations can be used as ‘In-kind’ to cover the costs of hiring Shire facilities, lights, tip fees etc.

Please note: No bonds or service fees can be covered by either the Small Assistance Donation or the Community Support Grant.

Community Support Grant

Maximum $2,500 per organisation per financial year

Submission dates: Before March 31 (projects April – August) Before August 31 – (projects September – March). Late applications are unable to be considered.

This funding is available to incorporated community and sporting organisations and also Emergency Service Organisations incorporated or unincorporated.

Applications can be for cash and/or in-kind contributions as long as the total amount is no more than $2500

Applications are to be completed in full and signed by an Office Bearer. Please ensure that you highlight if your event is significant ie: Anniversary Event or other special occasion, and include as much information as possible in your application.

Applications are assessed by a panel consisting of one senior community development staff member and at least two Councillors, each from different wards.

Decisions to allocate funding to a project are based on the following criteria:

  • The extent to which the project directly benefits the residents of the Shire of Ashburton
  • Funding and/or contributions from other sources
  • Value for money

An evaluation form is required to be completed four weeks after your event/activity and must include:

  • A detailed budget signed by the Treasurer and President of the organisation
  • Evaluation of the Event/Activity
  • Proof that the Grant was expended according to the approved application, ie: receipts from any purchases etc.
