Community members are urged to report sightings of wild dogs to the Shire of Ashburton.
We are aware of numerous sightings and encounters with wild dogs in our community.
We are carrying out daily patrols early morning and late afternoon as a measure of ensuring public safety for our residents and community members.
Whilst there has been large discussion about wild dogs among community members, there has five reports through to the Shire in the past two weeks.
If you see a wild dog, report it to the Shire once you are in a safe place by completing a Customer Action Request Form, available on the home page of our website, or call our rangers on 08 9188 4444.
It is advised that community members do not approach or attempt to feed wild dogs. Move to a safe place as quickly as possible.
We strongly discourage individuals from remaining in close proximity to the wild dogs in order to take photos and videos.
Pet owners are reminded to keep cats inside and use allocated dog exercise areas to let your dog off the leash.
When walking at nighttime or before dawn, carry a torch with you.
Living in the Pilbara region means that we do encounter various forms of wild life and we remind everyone to be vigilant and aware of their surrounding environment.
