Onslow Town Centre Upgrade – Project Progress and Upcoming Phase Changeover

Significant progress has been made on the Onslow Town Centre Upgrade over the past month, marking key milestones as works continue to transform Second Avenue.

Recent works completed include:

  • Construction of a new stormwater system from Third Street through to the post office – discharging to the ocean near the Senior’s Unit housing
  • Completion of the new carpark adjacent to the Onslow Beach Resort
  • Construction of the roundabout at the Beadon Bay Hotel (Simpson Street)
  • Kerbing and stormwater installation at the new roundabout and along the northern side of Second Avenue
  • Asphalt sealing at the roundabout, large carpark and along the northern side of Second Avenue
  • Installation of paved pedestrian crossings at the new roundabout and along the northern side of Second Ave
  • Construction of stone seating walls near the Beadon Bay Hotel and other locations along the street
  • Footings installed for multiple shade structures along the northern side of Second Avenue and at the front of the Simpson Street Service Station
  • Footpath pours scheduled for this Thursday, Friday and Saturday to complete the northern alignment.

Upcoming Traffic Management Change – Phase 3

The project will now transition from Phase 2, which involved the closure of the northern side of Second Avenue and the roundabout at the Beadon Bay Hotel (Simpson Street), to Phase 3, which will see the closure of the southern side of Second Avenue and the roundabout area at the Onslow Beach Resort (Third Street).

The changeover is planned to take place between 22–26 October. The exact date will depend on onsite progress over the coming days, and we will keep the community updated with any changes or further information.

This significant project reflects a shared commitment to enhancing Onslow’s liveability and revitalising its streetscape, transforming the area into a welcoming, accessible and vibrant space for locals and visitors alike.

The Shire appreciates the community’s ongoing patience and cooperation as construction continues.
