Tom Price Senior High School’s Kiersten Perry has been recognised amongst a raft of other students for her academic achievements.
Nearly 200 of Western Australia’s brightest Year 12 public school students will be awarded $1,000 cash prizes for their academic achievements.
The Best and Brightest prizes have been awarded each year since 2005 to acknowledge and reward excellence in the public education system.
Education Minister Liz Constable today congratulated 182 public school students, who were each named dux of their school for Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) examination or Vocational Education and Training (VET) studies.
“These students are to be commended for their dedication and effort during the demanding final year of secondary school.
Their teachers, principals and, of course, their families also deserve to be acknowledged for the direction and support they provided to the students."
In other news Kate Abbott of Tom Price Primary School received the WA Beginning Teacher of the Year Award at Friday's WA Education Awards.
Kate started her teaching career at Tom Price Primary School at the beginning of this year.
A graduate of Curtin University with a Bachelor of Early Childhood, she finished in the top three percent of all graduates in 2009.
She contributes to the school community and is involved with extra curricula and weekend events. She is held in high regard by staff, students and parents.
