Businesses, community groups and local sporting clubs are invited to apply for financial support as the $1.5m COVID-19 relief package agreed at April Council Meeting is implemented.

Applicants must be based in the Shire of Ashburton and entities that can apply include small-to-medium businesses including home businesses registered within the Shire, not-for-profit organisations, community groups, and sporting groups.

A clear demonstration of financial hardship and/or loss due to COVID-19 is required for consideration as well as documented reasonable measures to reduce losses and additional support and funding the applicant has or intends to pursue.

Applications can be made to write off outstanding debts incurred since 1 February 2020 as a result of financial hardship and loss due to COVID-19 in addition to special payment arrangements, waiver of late fees and interest charges and rent relief to those who lease buildings and/or land from the Shire.

Through the COVID-19 Small Business and Community Grants Fund up to $25,000 is available for those who can demonstrate hardship and/or losses due to the restrictions put in place to reduce the spread of the pandemic. This also extends to our signature and major events who have had to cancel or postpone their event but have still incurred associated costs.

The application can be made available on request.
