A bushfire ADVICE remains in place for people in the south-east of Cane River Conservation Park in the Shire of Ashburton.
The fire started on the Mt Stuart Road between the North West Coastal Highway and the Nanutarra-Munjina Road and is is now 4km east of North West Coastal Highway.
There is no threat to lives or homes. Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and keep up to date.
WHAT TO DO:
• Stay alert and monitor your surroundings.
• Watch for signs of a bushfire, especially smoke and flames.
ROAD CLOSURES:
No roads are closed.
Motorists should avoid the area and be aware of fire and other emergency services personnel working on site. For further details contact the Shire of Ashburton.
BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR:
The bushfire has been moving south-westerly but west-north-west winds forecast for today
are expected to turn it back on itself. The fire is estimated to have burnt 6000ha.
WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING:
DEC fire personnel are monitoring the fire.
CAUSE:
The cause of the fire is unknown. People are asked to report any suspicious behaviour to Police Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
