The successful application will see the current nbn service in Onslow upgraded to Fibre to the Premise technology.
Shire of Ashburton President Kerry White acknowledged that the Shire supported nbn’s application through Round 2 of the Regional Connectivity Program late last year.
“I am thrilled our Onslow community will be able to benefit from reliable digital connectively and having this piece of critical infrastructure installed as part of this funding”, said Councillor White.
“It means both our residents and business community will have access to faster speeds and improved user experiences for downloads, streaming, video conferencing and using cloud-based technologies.
“Council’s current priorities for Onslow include resource development and expansion, tourism and cultural infrastructure, heavy industry development and a new business precinct, all of which will require improved internet and connectivity to be achieved”.
