Dog Registration

As per the Dog Act 1976, all residents 18 years or older who are owners of dogs are required to register their dog(s) with their nearest Local Government Authority. All dogs must be microchipped before they can be registered.

If your dog is aged three (3) months or older, you are legally required to register the animal with your local Council. It is an offence not to register your dog(s), and you may be issued with a fine for failing to comply.

Registration forms are available from your local Shire office. You will need to show proof of microchipping, which your vet will provide

Cat Registration

The Cat Act 2011 requires all cats aged six (6) months or older to be sterilised and registered with their nearest Local Government Authority. It is an offence not to register your cat(s), and you may be issued with a fine for failing to comply.
