The Shire of Ashburton has commenced a review of the Strategic Community Plan 2017-2027.

This plan last underwent a desktop review in 2019 and is now due a major review as part of a 4 yearly review to ensure that it stays current and aligns with the aspirations of the community today.

Shire of Ashburton President Kerry White is encouraging community members from across the Shire to participate in the review, with several ways to have your say available.

“The Strategic Community Plan is the primary document for everything that the Shire does and forms a part of the Shire’s integrated planning framework, driving long term vision, aspirations and priorities”, said Councillor White.

“This is a real opportunity for the community to inform the Shire as to their values and vision for their towns that can then be included in Council’s long-term vision.

“Whether you live, work in, invest or visit our Shire, you are invited to give your feedback.

“This is your opportunity to put forward actions that will benefit your community into the future”.

Face to face engagement with our community has begun with officers inviting community members to complete a survey in person and will continue to do so at numerous events across the Shire in the coming weeks.

On online survey is also available from the Shire’s website as part of this initial community engagement.

The next phase will look at forming focus groups in each town that will consider the information gathered from the survey and how best to move forward with the community interest at heart.

Visit www.ashburton.wa.gov.au for information and survey details.
