Connecting Clubs

Why Club Development in the Shire?

Clubs Make “My Pilbara Home”

In our communities, clubs and groups are at the heart of connection. Especially in regional areas, they become powerful pillars of social life, helping to build communal identities, foster friendships, and create lasting bonds.

With loneliness and isolation increasingly recognised as critical social issues that impact long-term health, clubs play a vital role in supporting both physical and mental well-being. They bring people together across diverse backgrounds, promoting unity and understanding through shared experiences.

Clubs also offer opportunities for people of all ages to learn new skills, empowering individuals and strengthening the communal fabric of our towns.

The Shire of Ashburton is home to vibrant towns and numerous clubs that span the stunning coastal and inland Pilbara landscapes. These communities, rich in Aboriginal heritage and natural beauty, offer a unique lifestyle and contribute to the region’s economic and environmental prosperity.

Endorsed Club Development Plan

The Shire of Ashburton has formally endorsed the Club Development Plan 2024 – 2027, which outlines a strategic framework to support and grow local clubs and groups. This plan is part of the broader My Pilbara Home initiative and includes:

  • Capacity-building initiatives for clubs and volunteers
  • Inclusive programming to engage diverse community members
  • Support for leadership and governance within clubs
  • Resources and training to help clubs thrive
  • Monitoring and evaluation to track progress and impact

All club-related initiatives and support programs are aligned with this plan to ensure consistency, sustainability, and community benefit.
