Local Government Elections

Ordinary local government elections are held every two years on the third Saturday in October. The Shire President and Councillors are elected for four-year terms, with half of the Councillors terms concluding at each biennial election.

Elections, subject to a prior Council decision are generally conducted by the Western Australian Electoral Commission, and the postal voting method is used.

The next Shire of Ashburton Ordinary Election is scheduled for 21 October 2023.
