The Shire of Ashburton will once again host the highly popular FREE WA Day Festival in Onslow in 2021, showcasing the very best of WA culture and all that makes our State great.

On Sunday June 6 from 3pm to 7:30pm, the Onslow Sports Club will come alive to foster community spirit and celebrate the natural wonders of the region.

The popular Beadon Bay Bash Fishing Competition will begin at 3:30pm, so be sure to have your rods and reels ready!

An abundance of WA food will be on offer when local food vans dish up snacks and meals that will be sure to tickle the taste buds.

Kids will have plenty of fun activities to choose from while the competition takes place, with roving performances, face painters, movie screenings, a caricature drawer and much more!

Dinner will be served after the all-important weigh-in and presentation of the fishing comp winner, and then guests can dance the night away when The Midnight Jokers cover hits from the 70’s to now.

Local recreational groups from fishing and sport to tourism, as well expo stall holders will share the latest activities happening about town.

Celebrate WA Chair Michael Anghie said that Western Australians deserved an opportunity to celebrate everything great about their State after the challenges of the past year.

“The Festivals throughout our regions are always a fantastic representation of the diversity within our State, and the different ways we come together to celebrate this unique public holiday. I urge everyone to get out this long weekend and enjoy the celebrations in their community”, said Mr Anghie.

Shire of Ashburton President, Kerry White, said that the festival allowed locals to celebrate everything great about their State, and their local region.

“After not being able to host the Festival last year, we’re really looking forward to getting out there this year and celebrating the diversity and incredible culture we have here in WA. The Festival is a fantastic way to bring the community together, and I look forward to seeing everyone come together to enjoy our special long weekend.”

Those unable to make it to the Onslow WA Day Festival are invited to join the fun at nine additional events around the state including Burswood Park, Fremantle, Bunbury, Albany, Kalgoorlie, Geraldton, Newman, Carnarvon and Exmouth.

The WA Day Festival is made possible thanks to event sponsors BHP, the State Government of Western Australia and Lotterywest.
