The new boat ramp at the Onslow Community Boating Precinct (CBP) will be in use from Saturday, 30 July.
The Department of Transport (DoT) has completed the ramp and central holding jetty along with associated dredging, construction of revetments, and landside hardstand as part of the first stage of development of the precinct. Demolition of the old boat ramp and associated structures during the next month ahead of further works later this year to complete Stage 1. .
The Onslow CBP is funded by the Shire of Ashburton ($6.4 million), and supported by the Chevron Operated Wheatstone Project ($1.5 million), the Commonwealth Recreational Fishing and Camping Facilities Program ($0.9 million) and the State Government ($4.5 million).
Additional Stage 1 upgrades
Following a brief break in construction activities, Stage 1 of the CBP will be further enhanced with kerb islands, asphalt, line marking, landscaping and public amenities to be added in late 2022. These secondary works will complete the Onslow CBP Stage 1.
Space and service requirements for a future small marina have been included in Stage 1.

New floating jetty
The Onslow CBP provides users with a new all tide access floating jetty with more than 40 metres of berthing space on both sides now available.
New solar lighting in the car park area will also improve visibility on the jetty during early morning and at night.
Onslow CBP - Stage 2
The Department of Transport is currently progressing the detailed design of Stage 2 contracting engineering firm Advisian and Emerge Associates for landscaping.
The yet to be funded Onslow CBP Stage 2 includes fully serviced boat pens, public jetties and berthing, completed landscaping and car parks, serviced development lots, community open space and ablutions.
