Extreme Heatwaves Expected this weekend

The Shire of Ashburton is anticipating an extreme heatwave across parts of Inland Pilbara this weekend – including Paraburdoo, Bellary Springs and Wakathuni Communities.

Please ensure you take these steps to keep safe;

1. Stay hydrated
2. Avoid alcohol and caffeinated drinks
3. Apply sunscreen regularly
4. Limit time outdoors
5. Wear lightweight, light-coloured and loose-fitting clothing
6. Sleep with just a sheet in the coolest part of the house
7. If able, close blinds
8. Never leave a person or pet in a closed car
9. Seek a place to keep cool
10. If available, use fans or air-conditioners
11. Wrap medications needing refrigeration in foil or heat repellent containers with an icepack to keep them cool if there is a power outage.
