Tom Price Skate Park

Establishing a town heart is the first step in creating an identity for Tom Price.

"What is needed to make Tom Price town centre great?"

  • A question asked at the Community Consultation process for developing the Tom Price town centre in 2010.
  • Part of the answer was: "Choice of activities, picnic areas, parks, trees, good facilities, open spaces, a new skate park..."

You would have noticed that the old Tom Price Skate Park has been demolished and the works for the building of a new facility is well on the way.  This project will have the potential to increase the usage of the Skate Park as well as providing the opportunity for young people to maintain an active healthy lifestyle and social connections.  This will contribute towards positive outcomes for overall health and well-being.  The new Skate Park will be larger, more inviting and adventurous.  It will have the ability to appeal to the community on all age levels which will increase participation and physical activity.

The aim of the Shire of Ashburton is to provide a family friendly environment for both residents and visitors to enjoy sporting and recreational activities.  The construction of the park is now running slightly ahead of schedule and should be open to the public by October this year.
