Submissions sought for land sale on Onslow Road

The sale of a portion of Lot 16 on Onslow Road has taken another step forward, with the Shire of Ashburton endorsing the draft Request for Tender for Sale of Land. The tender is expected to be advertised from sometime in August for a six-week period.

A Major Land Transaction Plan for the disposal of the Onslow Road property was previously advertised for a period of six weeks, commencing 26 April 2014. This advertisement sought public submissions in respect to the proposal, however no submissions were received.

Shire of Ashburton President, Kerry White, explained that the Council would now proceed with the sale of the property as proposed.

“A subdivision application has been lodged with the Western Australian Planning Commission and we expect a decision shortly,” said Cr White.

“Rather than this holding up the sale process, we will be progressing with seeking submissions from prospective purchasers. Any issues that arise in regards to the subdivision application can be resolved during the advertising period for the Request for Tender.”

The subdivision application provides an indicative road layout that ensures access to Onslow Airport. “While prospective tenderers may wish to alter this road layout to some degree, providing road access to the airport will be a condition of sale,” stated Cr White.

Following the close of the Request for Tender process, Council will consider the received submissions.
