New Waste Transfer Station opening in Onslow

The Onslow Landfill will be closing on 8 August 2015 with the new Waste Transfer Station opening on 10 August 2015.

The current Onslow Landfill has reached the end of its operational life and with the adjoining new land development the existing facility now needs to be closed. With the rapid expansion of the resources industry, continued residential growth is expected and by closing the landfill it will allow for the surrounding land to be further developed.

A new, modern Waste Transfer Station has been developed for the continuity of waste disposal services to the community and to provide for the growth in future anticipated waste volumes within the area. This facility has been fully funded and developed by the Shire of Ashburton to meet these needs.

Soon after the existing landfill is closed, a comprehensive rehabilitation and monitoring project will be undertaken on the site.
